Course 1: Product management and strategy

  • Gain an understanding of product strategy in relation to organisational strategy, and how to ideate and validate new products and features
  • Get familiarised with the user through market research in order to assess product-market fit and articulate user problems
  • Conduct iterative user research to validate design ideas and inform product design
  • Master effective written and verbal communication in different contexts (office and remote) and with different stakeholders.

Course 2: Product design and development

  • Further build on your product design knowledge, including design thinking, user experience design (UX) and interaction design principles to ensure a product is feasible and usable
  • Learn the principles of Agile product development, and how to prioritise tasks to manage product backlog
  • Learn how to work with multi-disciplinary teams, with a specific focus on collaborating with designers and engineers to achieve product success
  • Gain crucial foundational product design skills, such as the application of various testing and validation methods and tools, and how to manage advanced, technical product development.

Course 3: Launching a product to market

  • Gain the skills to design an effective go-to-market strategy, as well as planning the activities involved in a product launch
  • Learn product growth principles, including growth hacking and principles of product-led growth
  • Learn to identify appropriate product metrics and success criteria to continuously improve the product and promote product and business success.

Project-based assessments

For Course 1, you’ll use the skills acquired during the programme to build a business case and develop an accompanying presentation to help secure investment for your proposed product or feature. In Course 2, it will be expected of you to create a detailed product development plan. This means building a product prototype and the opportunity to showcase user testing to demonstrate the feasibility of your product. In Course 3, you’ll design a go-to-market strategy and product launch plan.

Employer Project

In a culmination of the skills acquired in the first three project-based courses, you’ll collaborate with fellow learners on an Employer Project. This specific project is designed by employer partners to reflect the practical skills required by industry. It requires a synthesis of the methods and techniques developed throughout the programme, and is based on genuine employer needs and interests. The project will be submitted in industry-aligned formats to ensure it becomes a relevant part of a practical portfolio of evidence.

Employer partners actively engage with learners as it gives them the opportunity to assess how the learner would approach a problem in their business context and, therefore, whether they might be a good fit for an internship or employment opportunity.

“The Employer Project was absolutely eye-opening in terms of not only having to deal with other colleagues, relationships, ways of working and styles of working, but also with a very specific brief from a real-life company that has their own culture and ethos and ways of working and having to put that into practice. It was brilliant – it was really massively rewarding.”
